Chef Kim
I have always had a different kind of love and admiration for food. Growing up my house was the hub for all family events and my mother was always in charge. I guess you can say I always wanted to be a chef, I always looked up to my mother and her amazing food. I was always amazed by people's reactions when they had her food and always aspired to be as great.
Growing up in a Dominican household there was always a reason to get all our family and friends together and make copious amounts of food. My mother was never afraid to venture into other cuisines and I was always mesmerized by her ability to make anything. Whether she knows this or not she inspired me to enter the culinary world. When I was younger my family lived in Puerto Rico, during the few years we lived there my mom worked at a few restaurants and I would oftentimes join her at work. I would watch her at times be the only person in a kitchen pumping out food for a restaurant full of people, it was inspiring to see how flawlessly she mastered her craft. It gave me a different respect not just for my mother but for food and the culinary world.
I decided to enter culinary school about a year after high school, it was one of the greatest decisions I have made. Having formal culinary training along with having worked at many of the best restaurants in The Lehigh Valley, have helped shape me into the chef I am today. My experience has fueled my passion and my love for creating meals.
The connections and memories that can be made over a good meal are timeless. Food is more than just nutrition. Food is for the body, mind, and soul and I hope to nourish not just the body but also the mind and soul of anyone who consumes any of my meals.
